Search for “fake fingerprints” on Baidu, and the pop-up messages will never make you feel relaxed-“Fingerprint film 100% passed, easy to find colleagues to check in [National sales number one]” “How to fake fingerprints” “Fake fingerprints can deceive Pay via Apple”.
On another platform, I searched for “fingerprint” on Taobao, and the first-ranked advertisement was an advertisement whose product name was a flip-molded silicone punch card toy. Based on the name alone, it is not difficult to infer its purpose.
Smart fingerprint recognition is gradually penetrating into daily life. Mobile phones, smart fingerprint locks, and computers all use fingerprint recognition technology to varying degrees. However, fake fingerprint forgery technology is also being upgraded day by day, endangering information security.
In response to this situation, Jinglianwen Technology started the research and development of fake fingerprint detection technology in 2012, and won the first place in the global fake fingerprint competition in 2019, winning the championship for two consecutive years. From optical fingerprint anti-counterfeiting to capacitive fingerprint anti-counterfeiting to photoelectric fingerprint anti-counterfeiting, technology iterations have been realized.
Since the beginning of research and development, Technology has recorded a total of 50 million true and false fingerprints. These fingerprints mainly come from volunteers and employees, and are extracted on the premise of voluntary.
The team also purchased a variety of materials for making fake fingerprints to make, record and identify fake fingerprints. “Perfect identification actually includes two aspects: what is true cannot be false, and what is false cannot be true. Data from both aspects are needed,” Zheng Xiaowei, CEO of Jinglianwen, told Lieyun.com. The basic data accumulated over the years has also become the moat of JLW Technology.
Iterative Fingerprinting VS Evolved False Fingerprints
Recalling the scene when she started her business, Zheng Xiaowei said with a smile that Dr. Zhang, who was the first to do fingerprint identification in China at that time, approached her and said that she wanted to explore the field of fingerprint anti-counterfeiting. There are many players in fingerprint recognition technology, and the team chose the direction of anti-counterfeiting after thinking about it, and she couldn’t help but immerse herself in learning about fake fingerprint technology.
Fingerprint recognition technology has gone through three major iterations, namely optical recognition, capacitive recognition, and off-screen recognition. The optical identification period was the earliest, and the common counterfeiting materials at that time were silica gel and latex; the counterfeiting cost in the capacitive identification period was higher, and conductive materials were needed, and there were not many available materials, mainly Japanese silver water and PCB boards, and the anti-counterfeiting difficulty was corresponding reduce.
In the past two years, under-screen recognition solutions have flooded into the market, especially for smartphones, and are favored for saving screen space. However, this solution is actually easier to be cracked by fake fingerprints. Since there is no conductive restriction, ordinary materials can be unlocked. During the interview, the staff printed a clear fingerprint on the spot, which was easily used by Lieyun.com to open the phone.
Fake fingerprints can easily crack fingerprint locks, but is fraud really so widespread? Do we really need to make great efforts to develop anti-counterfeiting technology?
Zheng Xiaowei explained, “Fake fingerprints can be broadly divided into 2D fingerprints and 3D fingerprints. 3D fingerprints are made by individuals on their own initiative, and are used for attendance check-in; 2D fingerprints are mostly stolen, and fingerprints left on mobile phones and desktops can be stolen. Rubbing, where ink pad fingerprints on documents can be reproduced.
“Once the fingerprint password is mastered by a stranger, personal privacy and security issues are equivalent to opening the door.
Application of fingerprint anti-counterfeiting technology
JLW’s anti-counterfeiting algorithm is mainly open to collection terminals such as mobile phone manufacturers and smart door locks. After the product is adapted, it can be used as the underlying technology application.
“This year’s focus is mainly on electronic anti-counterfeiting of smartphones, door locks and other terminals. We will vigorously promote it. At present, we are cooperating with international mobile phone companies and other companies to use anti-counterfeiting algorithms to empower the security of smart terminals,” said Zheng Xiaowei, who also revealed The company has completed the debugging of the anti-counterfeiting project of the Italian police fingerprint collector and has entered the stage of use. The company also undertook a project of a public security department, and jointly produced a portable fingerprint collector to curb illegal activities through strict fingerprint anti-counterfeiting.
At home and abroad, there are many players in the field of fingerprint anti-counterfeiting such as international listed companies and professional research institutes. In the past two years, some chip manufacturers have been exploring one after another, but they have not yet launched mature products.
In terms of business model, JLW Technology’s main revenue is through lisence authorization, and charges are based on hardware terminals. Customers include terminal product manufacturers, fingerprint module manufacturers and chip manufacturers. It is expected to make great progress in the mobile terminal and smart furniture industries in 2019.
